Services and Fees
Research Services
Base rate of $25 per hour, with a 2-hour minimum, plus reimbursable expenses.
Traditional genealogical research includes:
- Preliminary survey of the research request
- Review of information provided by you
- Development of a research plan
- Research and analysis
- Written report of findings
- Recommendations for future research
- Copies, transcriptions, abstracts of documents
- Formal presentation of all research results
Other research services:
- Tombstone photography (additional charge of $1 per printed photo, no additional charge for digital images)
- Word processing/data entry
- Simple website creation
- Fact checking and/or proofreading
- Organizing client's research files
- In-home computer tutoring and training client on genealogical websites and/or computer research programs
Document Delivery Services
Flat rate of $25 per item, plus reimbursable expenses.
- Look-ups in specific records such as birth, marriage, death, obituaries, census, cemetery, etc.
- I no longer do look-ups of obituaries in Houston-area newspapers as a flat-rate service, only as part of traditional research. The Houston Public Library staff will do obituary look-ups for a small fee.
- I no longer do look-ups of Texas death records as a flat-rate service, only as part of traditional research. Images of Texas death records from 1890-1976 are available free at Familysearch (LDS).
- Exception to the above: You must be a "qualified individual" to order records of Texas births within the last 75 years and deaths within the last 25 years. See Texas Vital Statistics for further information.
- Document delivery of specific genealogy and history resources, such as newspaper and journal articles, and book pages
Citations required for flat-rate pricing.
Research rate will apply if the location of on-site research is outside of Harris County.
Reimbursable Expenses
Out-of-pocket costs including but not limited to:
- parking
- photocopies
- postage
- mileage
Expedited (Fast turn-around) Fee
An additional fee of $25 applies to requests which require 1-2 day turn-around.
